A conception of our Tabla maestro Nawaz Mirajkar and Piano teacher Renu Suresh, this musical extravaganza will be presented by 30 local artistes and 3 guest artistes from India, using vocals, flutes, veenas, sitar, piano, sarangi, sarod, western strings-cello, double bass and violin, the Australian aboriginal digiridu and a plethora of Indian percussion instruments from ancient times to our present day, as well as drums from other cultures - Japanese, Chinese, Middle East and tribal. Damaru is truly a confluence of different music and serves as a tribute to all the great masters and inventors of various percussions instruments and a celebration of their invaluable contribution to the evolution of drumming.
