gestatinal diabetes...please help!?

hi all,
i am in my 31st week of my second pregnancy. almost 3 week ago i was diagnosed with gest diab. but my problem is that i have a family history of diab, even i lost my dad this jan becoz of diab issues...he was only 57.
anyway, till now i kept my numbers mostly under control with occasional spikes , by diet restriction only.
but now most of the time, my 1 hour after breakfast readings are always around 145-160..the normal being 60-140. my question is do i still need to worry?? my baby is on the 50th percentile so not big due to GD,..touchwood!!
i am really scared to start insulin as your body gets used to it...so do u think even when my fasting and an hour after lunch and dinner readings are normal, the doc can start insulin??
please answer.
