How does this conception/pregnancy thing work?

Ok, so I have been taking birth control pills (ortho tri cyclen lo) faithfully for the past 4 years. My husband and I were "intimate" 3/7 but it wasn't until a few days later when we decided to start trying for our second child. My period started 3/12 and I didn't stop taking my pills until 3/18. OK, so then I start looking at my ovulation calendar and it says 3/25 is THE day so we did what we do on that day and almost 4-5 hours after the fact my period starts again (still 3/25)! I figure this has to do with hormones after me just getting off of my pills? So a few days later after my period is over we continue trying. So come 4/25 and I took at least 3 positive pregnancy tests! I didn't expect it that quickly. I sign up for babycenter and it sends me an email on 4/30 saying that I'm 5 weeks? Which brings me back to the date of 3/25? and it says my date of conception was 4/8? How does this work? I wouldn't be pregnant from 3/7 right? My period came twice since that date 3/7. So huh?

First of all, congrats and happy and healthy nine months!!
For your question, on 4/30 you were 5 weeks pregnant from last menstrual period which was 3/25. And it is assummed that women ovulate about 2 weeks after the start of their period, which would make conception 4/8-4/9.
BUT, here's the thing, since you just got off BC and your cycles weren't regulated yet, then you can't really assume anything yet. Your best bet would be an ultrasound to date the pregnancy.

I have a mild herniated disc - L5 -S1. I also have a mild degenerative disc at the same level.?

This probably is due to an accident that i had 2 years back when i was pregnant. I just got to know when it flared up and i was put on bed rest for 2 weeks. i am completely fine now after the rest and i have no pain. I have a 2 year old kid . I was wondering can i continue all my activities with her. I still need to lift her at times and it doesn't hurt when i do. I also love to dance and jogging. Is there any restrictions on that front. I am doing back exercises to avoid getting flared again.

Crud!! Welcome to the (rotten) club of Degenerative Disc Disease sufferers. I don't have a herniated disc, but I have DDD and it is a drag. There are some things I've learned from docs, some from painful experience, here they are; front to back motion is ok, it's the side to side that will get you. Lifting is not good, but, remember, DDD is tricky and what you do today will probably not show up for 3 days, so you really have to pay attention to what you're doing and see how you feel 3 days from now (this is really hard to do). DDD gets worse with time, so what you do this year that doesn't bother you may bother you next year. The best way to keep your back in shape is; you have to exercise both your back AND your stomach muscles. You need to have both the back and the front of your torso in good shape. This gives you a "band" of strength in the area you need it most. Good luck.

im pretty sure im pregnant but one last question before i go to de doctor?

i had a few questions...
1.) since precum is a clear liquid (it doesnt have semen to protect it and sustain its life) do sperm in precum die faster than in cum? and would it be harder (yet possible) to get pregnant by precum than cum?
2.) could u approximate maybe the percent of pregnancies that occur without penetration/intercourse? (not even cumming near/outside the vagina, just fingering with contaminated fingers)...
3.) weird, question, but does it take precum a less amount of time to dry then semen? is sperm dry when the liquid it is in is dry?
4) can you transfer sperm from hand to hand if you cant see any semen in your hands, and then if the other person fingered you with the hand that you toch but he never touch himself can you be pregnant?
5) on average, after how many weeks of conception would the onset of symptoms come? and does the date of conception always have to be in the middle of ur cycle (ovulation)?

Is it safe to highlight hair during first trimester?

Hi,
When I found out that I was pregnant, I told my doctor that I had been coloring my hair and wanted to know if it was safe to keep doing it during pregnancy. She told me to wait until after the first trimester. At the time, I didn't ask any further questions because the baby comes first. But one month later- yikes!!! My roots are terrible. Just wondering, did anyone whose doctor told them not to use all over color during the first trimester recommend a safe alternative (i.e., highlights?) Please don't write just to tell me that it is "always" or "never" safe during any time of pregnancy, since I'm trying to follow Dr.'s guidelines about being more cautious during the first trimester. Thanks, ladies =)

I would say that it would be safer for you to highlight your hair insted of an all over color. If you can use sun in on it and sit outside or rinse it in lemon juice and stay outside on a sunny day this will help give you natural highlights without chemicals.
